The adventure

By placing a blue marble that they had taken earlier in Trynton in the hole in the door they opened it, and found a veritable horde of bloodthirsty animals waiting for them. They fought the animals a few at a time in the corridor; 2 vile spiders whose giant bulk made them easy targets, 3 blinding wasps and 9 pestilent rats. Quentin managed to make most of the rats insane and they fought amongst themselves while the friends finished off the rest. By the time the rats were recovering it was too late and they were slaughtered. The room had five pools, one in each of its corners, and one central one over which were paths to a central platform on which stood four coal braziers.
They found that two of the pools had healing properties, and after splashing it over their wounds they marched on through the door opposite the entrance to the pagoda archives.
The archives were a mess, but more importantly they could hear squealing trynnies next door, so they rushed into the adjoining room. Here they found a gaping hole in the floor, and two beleaguered trynnies trying to fight, with their wooden spears, four well-armed rapax scouts. The scouts were easily vanquished, once paralysed by Quentin. They could take a lot of punishment before dying, but Karen was more than happy to dish it out. The Trynnie guards were quite stupid and uncommunicative, and set to guarding the hole in the floor.
The friends picked up what useful things they could find from the archives (magic scrolls and suchlike) before heading back into the meditation room. The air seemed to vibrate with pent-up force, rather surprisingly for a meditation room. The other two rooms led to a Shaman's room, which was empty, and the armoury, which had been taken over by three oak saplings. They decided to leave the oaks for the moment when Margreet described some of the stories she had read in the various books they'd found about oak saplings and their powerful magic.
They walked back through Trynton, exploring the last part but finding nothing interesting; store-rooms, a broken walk-way to the rat-trees and a room with another locked door, outside of which stood an empty plinth.
As they walked back they decided to investigate the temples that they'd passed, starting with the Rising Elms room. Here they encountered 6 willow saplings lying in wait for passers by. Quentin paralysed the lot of them, and despite their hard wooden bodies they didn't last long against the chopping frenzy that ensued. The friends picked up a spirit staff from one of them, which they stashed away for Antone in Arnika. The rising elms was a beautiful place, and here they found some zuzu flowers growing 'wild'. They picked a few of the beautiful specimens.
When they passed the zoo they decided to have a closer looks at the creatures, which involved slaughtering the lot for combat practice. The sprites, in an anti-magic room, were no challeneg at all, the hardest thing being to hit the small flitting creatures. The crocodiles, although they had a powerful bite, were slow and easy to chop, and had been concealing a shiny metal plate which Salva took for his gadgetry.
Lastly they drugged Bobo with fairy dust and rotten meat from the crocodile feeding tray and sneaked around his cage, where they found some chain mittens and a shiny metal ball, before slicing him up too. His meat provided them with supplies for a day or two.

Their rounds in Trynton took them all the way back to the temple by Fuzzfas' Potion palace, where they met five more unfriendly sprites. The sprites' magic was painful, so the friends returned the welcome with swords and mace, and the sprites died. One had been carrying a sprite's dagger, a valuable artefact, so they pilfered that before finding some gold stashed at the back of the temple, hidden under a load of vines. Salva kept the vines too, saying that with some work they could easily be twisted into rope. This they did in Fuzzfas' shop, where Margreet sold their sprite's dagger, some more potions and bought some incense and some glowing goo, which they put in a jar.
Up in the meditation room on the Seventh Bough again, they poured the incense over the four braziers. When the fourth one was lit a cool wind blew through the room for a few seconds, and the atmosphere settled from the fury of before to a peaceful calm.
They decided to tackle to oak saplings, but carefully. They managed to catch one stooped in the corridor, and Quentin paralysed it with the most powerful spell he could muster. They chopped him up and when the next one appeared around the corner they retreated into the meditation room, where magic wouldn't work. The two saplings chased them and were chopped up like logs. They healed the damage from the powerful spells the oaks had fired off before looting the armoury. There were a few traps, but Salva disarmed them all. The loot wasn't great, but they did find a fine spiked spear, which Vi grabbed, saying that she was better with spears than maces anyway.
On their way out of Trynton they met a large number of wasps, but they weren't a problem. They walked back to Arnika, meeting some violent animals called juggernaughts on the way. Nine of these creatures was quite a challenge, since they had peculiarly tough hides and two large claws instead of hands. Magically-induced insanity and blindness saved the friends from being overwhelmed, and after encountering what they took to be five more, but were lesser cousins called piercer modais they jogged the rest of the way to Arnika, sprinting to avoid fights. Out of breath is better than out of life, after all. Shu Ting wasn't so keen on the idea, having been resurrected already, and disliking running, but wasn't content to be left behind.
