The adventure

End of Chapter 1:
Karen: 50 kills
Shu Ting: 100 kills, one death!
Quentin: 30 kills
Margreet: 30 kills
Salvador: 15 kills

Margreet's magical whipping rocks has become quite a powerful spell now, as she practised it. She can fling a few pebbles and really batter the enemies in front of her (it's her pebbles finishing off battered opponents and small animals that gives her the high kill count). She still isn't very good at close combat, but has enough magic to see a fight through. She's also become quite attuned to life here, seeing little things that the others don't notice, managing to converse with the people despite only recently learning their language, and even guessing how an enemy is going to act before he does.
Shu Ting has become impressively fast. She (and Quentin) seem always able to react almost before anything has happened. Her swordsmanship is more practised and she can swing multiple times as an opponent manages to get just one blow in. She's not very good with a longbow (they found a few in the monastery), and although she's learnt a magical spell, it backfires as often as not. She's got her enchanted Katana, and the smaller wakizashi in her left hand.
Quentin has managed to find better clothing than the night clothes he crashed in, and is wearing leathers. It's not perfect for magic, but he's managing anyway. He's just created a couple of useful spells: he's expanded his immobilising spell to freeze a group of enemies, and he's discovered how to throw a fireball. He's looking forward to trying things out. He also bought himself an enchanted mace to replace the bullwhip, which although not bad at lacerating bats and rats, is less effective on robots. He's also got a small buckler for his left hand. Not only does he seem to manage to get his spell in before anyone moves (handy for paralysing opponents), the gestures of the magic spells seem to have helped his dexterity; his hands sometimes move in a blur.
Salvador has the diamond epee, which is quite a weapon, or would be if he ever got to use it. Mostly he's used his new toy, the omnigun, to shoot little projectiles. He's moved on to darts from stones, but is working on adapting it to shoot arrows, which would be a lot more dangerous. He's become skilled with it, and can fire shots twice as quickly as when he started, helped by the whipping of his fingers over the mechanism. He also has a little buckler, enchanted to help him with locks and traps and speed up his relaxed Spanish reactions.
Karen's grown stronger and tougher. Blows that once would have killed two of them at once thud into her like a snowball on a wall. She's also picked up Antone's sword from his bank vault, called Bloodlust, that has some truly awesome magical power. It's filled her with bloodlust, and swings itself as fast as Shu Ting seems to manage after all her practice, slicing metal and bone with ease. Although Karen doesn't always make contact any more, when she does it's almost certain death for the opponents they've faced so far. She's been given some steel gauntlets that they found to protect her hands, but they certainly don't stop the power of Bloodlust from holding onto her. She seems unable to let go of the weapon; it's cursed.
